The Venter loop trail
Our winter hiking tip for enjoyment seekers
Eager for a gentle amble through a snowy winter panorama? This effortless tour is just what you are looking for.
The “Venter Runde” (Venter loop trail) – is the light version of the multi-day high-altitude tour of the same name. Winter holidays in Austria just got better! Let’s be clear: this loop trail, while not traversing the lofty three-thousand-metre peaks of the high-altitude tour, boasts its own distinct beauty and doesn’t demand heavy equipment or intricate planning.
Step this way: start at the church, not far from the Natur- und Alpinhotel Post, and follow the road through the village. Cross the bridge, and then turn left towards Haus Reinstadler. Continue past the Gampen lift, along the edge of the forest, for about one kilometre until you reach the bridge over the Venter Ache river. Cross this bridge and walk back to Vent via the road. This winter hike checks in at 2.7 kilometres, with a gentle 90 metres of elevation gain, and an estimated duration of a leisurely 1.5 hours. Impeccably maintained and accessible to all, this route is a mild yet magnificent winter adventure.
