Discover the hiking trail that connects you with nature and history, passing through the mountaineering village of Vent: the Ötztal Trail.
Embark on a breathtaking hike in twelve stages that leads you from one picturesque village to another across our stunning valley. As the trail weaves through the Ötztal valley, it crosses rivers and meadows and ascends to awe-inspiring vantage points. From the base of the valley to soaring elevations, the Ötztal Trail is full of diverse landscapes and spectacular views.
Our two favourite stages are the middle ones because they go right through the village of Vent, very close to our Natur- & Alpinhotel Post!
Stage six begins in Obergurgl, passes the Ramolhaus, traverses the Ramoljoch pass, and winds through the Ramolalm, concluding in Vent. Spanning 14.9 kilometres, this stage climbs 1,329 metres and descends 1,342 metres in elevation. With an estimated 6.5 hours of hiking and a peak elevation of 3,175 metres, this stage is certainly not for the faint of heart. Notable sights include the historic Piccard Bridge, honouring explorer Auguste Piccard’s emergency hot-air balloon landing, and a 300-year-old stone pine forest.
For a break between adventures, we invite you to stay with us at the Natur- & Alpinhotel Post in Vent. Look forward to a refreshing shower, our sauna village with an indoor pool, a sumptuous dinner, and – perhaps best of all – your cosy room.
The adventure continues the following day with stage seven, which leads from Vent to Gaislach via the Weißkar and the Tiefenbach. This stage covers 14.9 kilometres in a roughly six-hour trek, with 1,040 metres of ascent, 973 metres of descent, and a peak elevation of 2,806 metres. In brief, it promises another day of unforgettable hiking.
