Then this is the perfect tip for you: the Ötztal Trail of Legends takes you on a fascinating journey through the mystical world of Ötztal legends. This themed trail is more than just a hiking path – it is an experience for the senses and the imagination. Are you ready?

The hike begins at the sports field in Huben, which is approximately a half-hour drive from the Alpinhotel Post in Vent. The unique trail, which captivates both children and adults, is about three kilometres long and ascends 350 metres in altitude, mostly winding through the forest. On average, visitors spend around one and a half to two hours walking it, giving the legends time to unfold at their own pace. However, you can linger as long as you like; here, the well-known saying holds true: the journey itself is the reward!

As you traverse the trail, you will encounter a number of legendary figures from the region’s rich folklore. The artist couple Annemarie and Günther Fahrner created these impressive life-size sculpture ensembles from scrap metal. There are 14 sculptures, each representing a different legend.

Are you curious to learn which figures you’ll encounter? Here are a few: the headless horseman, the great dragon, and the wild “Mandl”. But there is much more to discover. Information boards along the trail explain each legend, bringing the stories to life. Each legend transports you to a different world, making your feet feel light as you walk along, captivated by the tales and artistic sculptures.

At the end of the Trail of Legends, the Alpengasthof am Feuerstein’s stylish ambience invites you to take a well-deserved break. You can return via the Ötztal Trail of Legends or by car.
